Tips for better Chocolate Chip Cookies
by Julia Williams
*Use melted butter instead of room-temperature softened butter, which improves both the consistency of the dough and the texture of the baked cookies.
*Double or even triple the amount of vanilla specified in the recipe. (Real vanilla extract, not "vanillin," which is a cheaper substitute that doesn't taste nearly as good as the genuine article)
*Add a tablespoon or two of milk when mixing the dough. The cookies will come out softer and less crunchy
*Don't over beat the dough.
*Chill your dough before cooking.

I will keep those tips in mind! I have to say I have never listened to Kenny Rogers so I will take your word for it:) Boston way to go on smackin that cheese, Daxen loves having that for lunch too!!:)
I tried adding double vanilla to my cookies and I like it, so I'm excited to try these other tips. I was glad about the butter tip because I can never soften in the microwave the perfect amount, it always comes out melted anyway.
Ok.. so don't laugh but Mick LOVES to bake. He usually does the simple Pumpkin Choco Chip but the other day wanted to do one from scratch so I have him the recipe. Honestly... the best Chocolate Chip cookies ever. I started asking what he did and he had actually melted the butter which I thought was a No No!!! It was amazing the difference. I am excited to try the other tips!
Jess-
I think that's awesome Mick cooks!!! Corbin likes to cook as well. When Kevin made me cookies a few months back, I could hear Corbin in there telling him, "Dad, you are supposed to mix the butter and sugar together first, not dump everything in at once!" It was funny, and good to know he is learning. We are raising self sufficient future missionaries!! Yeah!
You should know!!! I had to just chuckle to myself when I saw this post. You have it down to a fine science. Does any of the dough even make it to the oven??? Huh? Well in all seriousness I do appreciate these tips. I am yet to make a dang cookie that looks and even tastes a bit like the ones mom makes according to Jake and Dace, So thanks this might help:)
