The definition of a fire extinguisher

Brityn has been learning about fire safety in school.  She brought home a checklist for us to fill out as a family:

1. Have the batteries in your smoke detectors been checked/changed in the last year? (Yes.  I remember it well.  It was in the middle of the night.  Took us forever to pinpoint which detector was chirping, since it only went off every 30 min or so.  Finally Kevin "disabled" it.  So I guess you could count that.)
2.  Do you have a working fire extinguisher? No.

Boston: "Yes we do."
Me: "I'm pretty sure we don't have one, honey."
Boston: "I'll go get it."

I'm a little puzzled at this point.  Sort of worried why he would know exactly where to find a fire extinguisher.  Had he done this before???  This is what he brings me:

Me: "Honey, that's a lighter.  A fire extinguisher puts OUT fire."
Boston: "This puts out fire, watch.."
He ignites the lighter.
Hmmm.  Guess I needed to be a little more specific.

That is so dang funny!! and cute. In our house when one goes off they ALL go off. You are in for a real treat when you burn anything in this house, crying kids and a crazy mom going around with the doors wide open and a towell fanning out the smoke.

Jess-
We are fabulous! I'm still having computer issues, so I am unable to download photos, and therefore update my blog. Hopefully before next month I will be up and running again. You are so sweet to worry :)
