*Corbin age 5 (don't you just want to squish those cheeks?)*
To me these questions used to bring to mind only one thing: the game of CLUE. "Ms. Scarlett, in the drawing room, with the wrench." However, after having kids, these questions have become part of my "Mommy arsenal".
C: Mom I need the keys to the car
M: Why?
C: So I can put them in the ignition.
M: Why?
C: So I can put the car in reverse and push it out of the drive way so we can play basketball.
M: Why does your jacket smell like smoke?
B: From the fire.
M: Was there fire outside?
B: Yes.
M: In our yard?
B: Yes.
M: Where?
B: Down by the pond.
M: Who started the fire?
B: Corbin made us a campfire.
*M became a bit unglued at this point*
The things I'm learning about boys:
1)They are so not forthcoming with information.
2) One word answers are sufficient for them. More words are a waste of time and effort.
3) There is ALWAYS more to the story. They are just afraid of your differing opinion in safety and general common sense that you might bring to their attention.
Unlike my Brityn, who raises her voice and talks in emphatic tones (her way of trying to distract me from the issue and facts at hand), my boys calmly and matter of factly feed me tidbits, hoping I will give up and be satisfied before they give up absolutely everything.
I'm on to you boys.

Soooo true! Girls spill EVERYTHING, boys NOTHING. I can't decide which is going to bring me to my grave sooner. Good thing you kept asking those questions....you would have had a wrecked car and burnt down house!:) Good job keeping everyone safe Mom!
Thanks for the heads up "with boys" I guess it always pays to be inquisitive. Seriously could that picture be any cuter of him?
I love that picture of Corbin! Its funny to see how early on their personalities develope! I am going to have to remember to start asking more who what where when and why's!!! Although I don't know if I really wanna know!?
This made me laugh! We had a campfire incident in our yard as well with Devon! We now built an area for a campfire and they are allowed to build it, only if they come ask permission first! Scary what boys think is okay to do! When Devon was almost 3 he climbed up a fence post and was standing on it, and right after we moved here he climbed about 30 feet up into a tree and we had to call the fire department to come get him down! My mom lived through raising 2 boys, so I guess I will too! :)
I could not have said it better!!!! That is soooooo true about boys. I have had to learn the hard way through a few instances :) I do not think that they ever grow out of it. I still have to run through the same scenerio with Jake... Soooo funny!! I love the pic or Corb, and Yes I want to squish those cute little cheeks!
AMEN!! So so true. Every day I ask my boys what they did in school that day. Their answer? "The same." (Meaning the same thing they do every day) It drives me nuts!
Corbin is so handsome!! I love that picture. I had to laugh at the fire incident. I can only imagine.
Thanks for the words of wisdom. I am sure I will be needing them.
