Have you ever?

Have you ever thought it would be a really good learning experience for your kids to learn how to take care of something?  Then did you ever get the idea for them to earn their own money to buy "the something" to take care of?  Did you have the great idea that hamsters might be a good starting point?  Have you ever thought you may have lost a teeny bit of your grip on things when one hamster got trapped in a "v-sit" position, head smashed between it's tiny feet screeching away in it's tube, and another went missing for a whole night and morning?  Have you ever become somewhat smitten, albeit for 2 tiny seconds, as they munched on pumpkin seeds?  And then shortly thereafter entertained thoughts of them meeting an untimely death?  Did you expect something more like deer droppings instead of the very very mouse like droppings (I know this should have been common sense, but it just caught me off guard and grossed me out), Were you ever afraid you would get hantavirus, and then just kick yourself, because in actuality you and the kids paid good money for some hantavirus? Are you suddenly scared of the "green watery diarrhea" scenario (I'm very afraid of the green diarrhea) the lady at the pet store described, because the hamster spent the night under the fridge gorging itself on who knows what?

I didn't sleep very well last night.  Curses damsters (damn/hamsters)!  Curses!

Oh my Tiff! I never pictured the day you would have a hamster in your house! I know that wasn't easy for you! Was it Corbin or Brityn that convinced you? They are super cute in a rodent sort of way. Good Luck with it! I just might trade my dog for your hamster, though. At least it doesn't have to be walked daily! Can't wait to see you guys!

lol. That sounds pretty rough tiff. Hopefully the hamster doesn't cause to much trouble. Also love the picture of Kevin and Brityn outside in the rain. Way to make the best of things :)

oh yeah - i had a gerbil when I was younger and I had asked and asked for it. come to find out I didn't like them very much when it came time that it was actually mine. I feel your pain - good thing my kids have a dog and when she's gone in five yrs or so, we are taking a break from pets for a while! :)

Who wouldn't want a hamster after looking at that adorable picture. I thought this post was hilarious and I can't wait to hear more hamster stories when I'm there.
ps..I love the nickname (damsters)
