Last week, Kevin's sister Tammy came to visit. We decided to make a quick trip up to New York. Kevin's parents offered to watch the kids! Our first stop was Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty.

We did all the touristy stuff since it was our first time. Since we only had one day to see everything, we would race from place to place, snap a picture in front of whatever, and then on to the next thing. It was so fun and exhausting!
This is by far the largest tourist attraction that we saw. I saw more people taking pictures similar to this one than literally anything else. We actually had to wait in a short line to get pictures. I got a kick out of people getting a kick out of it.
Brooklyn Bridge. Did I mention it was FREEZING?!!

Rockefeller Center

I don't remember the name of this cathedral, but after reading the book "Pillars of the Earth", by Ken Follet, I was in awe. The book is about a man whose life dream is to build a cathedral. Sounds like a snoozer, I know. But it is actually very good.

My camera stinks.

Central Park. That's our hotel in the background. You might know it from the movie Home Alone 2? I'm so just kidding. We didn't stay anywhere close to here.

My namesake

Kevin's siblings, minus one brother (we missed you Brian & Holly)

The whole gang in Times Square.
Other happenings:
Kevin reenacting "Feed the Birds, Toppins a Bag" from Mary Poppins. Except instead of birds there were rats, and instead of bread crumbs there were cookie pieces (gasp!), and instead of an old lady there was a Kevin getting a kick out of the whole thing.
Some man on the Subway telling me about his crappy day. Shawn warned us not to engage anyone on the subway so I just casually glanced at him throughout his lengthy story. Finally when he hinted about the 4th time that he wasn't sure where to get off, someone behind me helped him out. I felt bad, but I wasn't taking any chances. Some people are just out loud talkers. How do you tell the difference?
I swear I saw the actress who plays "Samantha" in Sex in the City.
A huge fight between a group picketing for "black Jesus" and one lonely white girl. Good show, good show.
Helpful tips:
*Do not take your husband to China town. He won't like it one bit, and will probably give you a time limit.
*You might want to take some smelling salts. The smell in the subway is enough to put a good man down. Also, wear gloves.
*DO NOT forget your antacids!

Sounds like a great trip! So glad you guys had a fun time! NO more trips without Brian and I, though. We are starting to think nobody likes us! J/K!!:) Glad you had a good time! Your camera looks about as good as mine. Maybe next time you are in town we could go camera shopping together!
Yeah China town isn't a place for guys. Oh but the deals to be had, didn't you explain to him the money you would be saving by shopping there? I love your picture with the statue of liberty in the background. Hope you got to take a tour of the statue of liberty. The year I went the wind was blowing so hard and it was swaying back and forth as we reached the top.
Sounds like so much fun! I have only been to NYC once but I was 7+ months pregnant and we were there for three days being total tourists. I was so exhausted that I would sit in some of the grimiest spots just to get off of my feet! Glad you had fun!
Justin and I went to New York last spring and I totally fell in love. That city is awesome and I could have spent so much more time there. We crammed so much into the week that we were there and felt like we barely scratched the surface. Funny enough, I think my favorite part was the subway. I love that way of transportation! And all the people watching you can do...oh, the stories! David is living there right now and I sometimes daydream about living there. Isn't China town great too? Did you buy a bag from a shady place because I sure did! Glad you had so much fun. I can't wait to return someday.
Great post! Your hair is getting so long. I like it.
That picture of Kevin kicking the bull is funny. I can't believe that's a big attraction and my skin crawls when I think about the rats in the subway. That's great that you guys can go places on a whim like that. I'm glad you had fun.
I love NYC! We were just there in June for our anniversary and we had an absolute ball for 5 days! The church is St. Patrick's cathedral. I actually had to get my husband out of china town cause we kept getting creppy people coming over to us since we were all dressed up or whatever! And I LOVE the subway. I wish every town had one so that I didn't have to drive anywhere. I probably would be more healthy too cause I probably would walk more. Hope to see you on Sunday!
YEAH, Jennifer! I'm so glad you're coming down. And, thanks for the name of the Cathedral.
How fun! I'm totally dying laughing over the picture with Kevin the the bull. You guys are too funny!
Glad you finally made it!!!!
How fun! I've never been there but would really love to go someday! You guys sure take a lot of fun trips!
