My favs

Purple Tulips, my favorite: Nothing says, I love you like "two lips".

My grandma had several lilac bushes.  I remember thinking that they must surely taste as good as they smelled.  I was sad to find out that they did not.  I also fashioned a gift for my elementary teacher, Mrs. Powell, using some freshly picked lilacs, oreo cookies and placing them in an old shoe box.  That's so gross on several levels.  It's the thought that counts right?

Yum!  Next to rain and magic markers, Gardenias are my favorite smell.  I'm just kidding about the markers.....or am I?

Ah, yes.  No ode to flowers would be complete without Petunias.  My moms flower beds overflow with these babies during the summer months.  I remember there were many a sad day when we lost a good petunia to a rogue hoe.  That sounds R rated, but it was actually good intentioned.

My grandma had a bleeding heart bush, and I am still fascinated by them.  They are so intricate and detailed.  Love them!

My first spring here in Georgia, I was so amazed!  Everywhere I looked there were blooming Dogwood Trees.  I thought surely this is what heaven must look like.  They are B-E-A-utiful.

My good friend's (who is reading this but is still refusing to get her own blog) grandparents had a few Forsythia bushes.  They are still one of my favorites.  When we moved into this house we had one growing around our mail box.  But, when you have to chop your way through the bush each day just to get your mail (think scene from Sleeping Beauty), a love/hate relationship develops.  The hate part won out and it was removed.

HAPPY SPRING!!
Do any of you have favorites?

I'm kind of partial towards magic makers. Really an odd thing that I can't explain! My favorite thing not necessarily from spring but I love freshly cut grass. I love the smell of it and way it feels to walk bare foot on it. Not too partial of the green stains on my shoes from cutting it or the smell it makes in the garbage on garbage day.

I love Crocus and Hyacinth. They both look so silky and delicate. I love looking out my window and suddenly seeing them pop up as one of the first signs of spring. Tulips - Oh my love of tulips. I love tulips and wanted tulips for my wedding. Insisted that I have them. Now that I'm older I hate to even think about what it cost to have ordered tulips in November. I also love Pink Carnations because I get those from my parents every year for my birthday. Maybe I just love all flowers and flower smells but I really do not love the smell of my pear trees in the spring though.

Tulips have always been my favorite flower. When I first married Joe he had trip to Amsterdam and he brought me back white ones, my favorites! Nothing is more beautiful than a southern spring! Go to Calloway Gardens to the Azalea Bowl! It is heaven there!!
