The dreaded breakfast item was served this morning......oatmeal. Corbin and Boston love oatmeal, but Brityn would rather chew glass. After pleading with her, and reminding her of all the kids that are less fortunate that would love a bowl of oatmeal (which she thought was total nonsense. Who could ever be THAT hungry?), I finally told her it was her choice to hurry and eat it, or go play.
Me: "But, guess what we are having for lunch?"
Brit: "What?" (Smiling & almost making me feel guilty for the answer that was coming.)
Me: "Your unfinished oatmeal."
Brit: "hmpf" (folding her arms and scowling at me.)
Me: "And if you don't eat it for lunch, guess what is for dinner?"
Brit: "Oatmeal. (sounding defeated, and starting to whine). I don't want oatmeal!!!!"
Me: "Well honey, I don't want kids that fuss and whine."
She sits down in front of her oatmeal, puts her elbows on the table, and then puts her chin on her fists. Almost inaudibly she mutters:
Brit: "If you don't want kids that fuss, then maybe you should not give them oatmeal."
Point taken Junie B. Jones.

Very smart girl! I can imagine her coming up with quickies like that when she's a mama, just like you!
That story made me laugh out loud!! I remember being little and not wanting to eat something, I wish I could have came up with that come back quick too!!
Side note- I have Corbins patch he earned at scout camp. I will give it to you when I see you.
She's got a point. Come on Tiff, learn it! That is so hilarious. You're kids are always coming up with great lines. Thanks for the laugh.
Definately a Junie B moment! Hilarious!
That to totally sounded like Junie B. Jones! We love her books at our house...although now it is only Tyson. Good for you for making her finish it!
Nice Tiff! I love it when they say stuff like that. What do you say back? Seven more days, I am counting down!
I'm right there with you Brityn! I HATE oatmeal. The only way I'll eat it is if there is a scoop of carmel swirl ice cream on it (milk & brown sugar all in one--not to mention is cools is down fast). My friend's grandma served it that way one time to me. So, just talk your mom into serving it with ice cream next time :c); and at least it wasn't Ham & beans or Spainish rice that you had to eat XcP(yucky face) YUCK!
Your kids are so funny! I never come up with quick lines like that, and I am 21 (almost)! This situation reminds me of Annie when
Ms. Hannigan says: And we're not having hot mush today!
Orphans: Yay!! Hooray!!
Ms. Hannigan: We're having cold mush!
Orphans: Awwwww:0(
that is pretty funny tiff. She does have a point. I was remembering that I wasn't a big fan of oatmeal because mom never let us put sugar in it. Grandma always let us though, huh moke. So now I think I have more sugar in there than oatmeal when I do eat it.
I too laughed out loud at the part where the most anxiously waited for lunch was announced........your unfinished oatmeal! lol!!!
