Monday night was family night, and we carved pumpkins, the tiny little 99 cent ones. Little pumpkins, for my little pumpkins. We lacked both the time and the skill to carve the large ones. Brityn was our "gutter". Since the boys were close to dry heaving pulling out the guts, Brityn took over and de-gutted all three pumpkins. Girls learn to suck it up at a young age. Atta girl Brit Brit. How else do you explain how we moms can clean up poop and puke without ourselves puking (most of the time)?

Then Dad took over and scraped the insides. We were going to roast seeds, but I need a recipe.
So, that will have to be next year. If any of you feel so inclined to leave a recipe in the comment box, I would be grateful!

Boston wanted his pumpkin to have a "scary mouth". Kev did a great job on all three pumpkins.

This is Corbin's pumpkin that he entered into the town pumpkin contest. Kinda cool huh?
He was pretty proud. There is a cash reward for the winner, so I will keep you posted.

What a great idea for a pumpkin..I love the baseball. And it fits Corbin perfectly! No good seeds recipe..I think they are nasty! Sorry! Hope you guys have a FUN Halloween!
Clean the seeds well. Then spread them out on a cookie sheet to dry a little over night. Them boil them in very salty water just for about 5 min. Re-spread them on the cookie sheet and bake at about 250 or so until the edges just start to turn brown. It is not exact but you really can't screw them up unless you burn them. Happy Halloween!!!
Awe...you guys are so cute!!!!
Great pumpkins! The kids did great. Nobody in our family but me will even think about gutting the pumpkins. So, pumpking carving is not a Schaefer Family tradition anymore :c).
I am not big on cleaning out the pumpkins, I always find a reason for getting out of it. Pumpkin carving is a great bonding experience for Dads and children, Right? This year was the first year for seeds at our house all we did was rise and clean them well, pat them dry, coat in veg. oil and salt. Spread evenly on a cookie sheet roast at 275 tossing every now and then and roasting till edges begin to brown without burning. My little guys love them.
How very clever. That is really cool. I hope he wins something! I loved the other pumpkins as well.
The baseball pumpkin is clas-sic. Hope he wins!
I think you're dead-on about girls and pumpkin guts.

We will see what our plans are. :(
Mackenzie was trick or treating in your neighborhood. I wonder if she saw you she hasn't said anything yet but if she did she will for sure think she has a stalker.
