Market Day

Market Day finally came.  If you will remember, Corbin's class did "mini society" this year.  They all got jobs (which they had to interview for) in which they earned money.  This money went towards a business license ($25), and supplies to make a product to sell.

Corbin made "Scratch Boards".  Basically, it was white cardstock that was colored all different colors and then black crayon colored over the top of that.  Then you scratch your own design into it.  It was framed with popsicle sticks, of course.  I love his sign.  It has a  picture of a "scratch board" with a design scratched in, and a little tag line that says "buy one and you can scratch away!".

He made 33 boards and sold them all.  A few weeks ago, they had to make up a prototype.  All the 3rd graders then got to go around to each item and anonymously comment on the item.  How they liked it, would they buy it?, what could be done different?, etc.

Corbin made ALOT of money!!  They could use their money to buy other market items, but Corbin had a hard time parting with his hard earned paper money.  It paid off in the end because after the day was over, Mrs. Cole told them they were going to have an auction the following day, in which the kids could bid and use their paper money.  He had a great time with this whole project!

That looks like it was such a fun time. Looks like Corbin is quite the little business man already. He is such a smart kid. I love the idea that he came up with. The sign also looks awesome. Great job Corb!!!!

Corbin, way to go on your project! I would have bought several scratch boards from you. My girls got a few of those at a birthday party and loved them. Maybe next time we're at Grandma's you can make one for them. I hope you got some cool things at the auction. You are a smart kid with great ideas. Keep up the good work.
