We might have a problem

Tonight Brityn and I were watching Pollyanna.  The boys were golfing, and she wanted to take advantage of that by choosing a chic flick for her and I to watch together.  After passing on the Wizards of Waverly Place, we settled on Pollyanna.  I tried to act all cool and breezy about it. Older children are much like wild animals:  If you make too big of a scene about something, it just discourages interaction.  So my face was saying, "Whatever, I'm breezy", but my insides were saying, "ALRIGHT!!".  It was one of my childhood favorites.  Right up there with the Gnome moblie,  and Darby O'Gill and the Little People.  Anyway, there was a mickey mouse short cartoon, right before Pollyanna started, that involved a cow.

B:  Awwww, mom look at that moose!
T:  That's a cow sweetheart.
B:  Huh, that doesn't look like a cow

As I'm still pondering why and how she would mistake a cow for a moose, (thinking there might be small similarities)  the opening scene of Pollyanna starts.  It shows a little boy running down a dirt road, when all of a sudden a flock of sheep pass in front of him.

B:  MOM, MOM, LOOK AT ALL THOSE DEER!!!!!
T:  Brityn, those are sheep.
B:  Huh, those don't even look like sheep.

It's at this point I think, "Alright, we have one of 3 problems."  Either, 1. Her knowledge of animals does not extend beyond the house pet variety, and her webkin manatee, 2.  She lumps all animals into categories.  For example:  THINGS THAT JUMP OUT INTO THE ROAD=Deer, or THINGS WITH HORNS=Moose,  3. She needs glasses.

I'm puzzled.

The problem is they do not come to Utah often enough. I guess next time you guys come to Utah you will have to come to my farm. They can see all of those animals and then we will have a quiz before they can leave. Jake just said maybe you should have her eyes checked, Monica (his sister) had a similar happenings.

Yes, I think that is exactly what they need. I really do think I should probably get her eyes checked.

:) You need to put something together to help the poor girl out! She is being deprived of her wilderness experience! We love you Brityn and your fun little happenings!!

Get that girl to a farm and how! I can't wait until my girls are old enough to watch Pollyanna, Summer Magic, Parent Trap, and I forgot about the Gnome Mobile. Good Times!

okay, I can't stop laughing! Just so you know, when I was in high school my family took a trip to Hawaii...we were driving down the road and past a bunch of black and white cows to which I said, "oh! look at the pandas!" My family has never let me forget about it either! Still not sure why my mind all of a sudden thought there should be pandas in Hawaii!
