Brityn is 8

This bundle of joy started out this life on her own terms, coming a whole month before we were expecting her to.  Then we had to leave her at the hospital for another week and a half before she was ready to come home.  That was the longest week and a half of our lives!!  I was just a mess without my little sweet pea.  She has a very strong sense of who she is, and is very confident in herself.  She loves little babies, and animals.  She is always looking to see who needs taking care of.  She is very friendly and outspoken, and does a pretty good job keeping up with the brothers.  She learns quickly, and a lot of things come naturally for her.  Lucky Ducky.  She also loves music and we are looking forward to her developing those talents.  I've always said this girl should be on stage, but I've yet to coax her into that arena.  Don't you worry, she will find it on her own in due time.  Just watch.

There is a story I've told her since she was young about a King and Queen who lived in a beautiful land, in a beautiful palace.  The sprawling landscape was made up of all different shades of gray, black, and white.  It was a sight to behold.  They had a son who spent his days fishing in the river behind the palace and hunting birds in the forest.  They also spent time together walking down the gray roads, watching the black branches of the trees move in the breeze.  They were content, and very happy.  One day, the Queen announced they were going to be adding to their family!  Everyone in the kingdom was so happy!

She spent the next several month making sure everything was perfect for this new little bundle.  One day as she was in town tending to her royal duties, she began to feel something peculiar.  Worried, she called the King who called for the physician.  After checking on the Queen, the physician told the King that the baby was coming.  King and Queen were so worried about this little baby who had decided to come into the world before it was time.  She was born at 3 p.m. in the afternoon, and immediately rushed to a special care unit.  13 days of waiting and worrying went by.  King and Queen fed her with a tiny bottle and were told as soon as she could get 1 oz. of milk down, they could take her back to the palace.  They held the tiny princess's hand, talked to her, gave her blessings, and then had faith.

They noticed one day that there were colors in the princess's room they had never seen before. Even the doctors and nurses were baffled.  No one had ever seen colors!!  People visiting their own family members at the hospital stopped in to see these new colors that evoked happy feelings within them, and to see the new little princess.  Finally after much prayer, the day came to take her home to the palace.  As they walked out of the hospital, the sun broke through the clouds that so often covered the valley, and beautiful flowers sprung as they passed.  Color washed over the landscape wherever they walked with the little princess.  It was beautiful!  As the little princess grew, she gave color to everything she touched.   It made everyone so happy and brought more joy into everyone's lives.  From that day on, this drab, gray world would never be the same.  It was now full of color and sunshine, and most of all joy.

We love you baby girl!  Life without you would be dull & colorless!
