The gift of time together

Brityn couldn't think of anything she wanted for her bday.  I suggested maybe she would like to spend the day with just Dad and I, going to lunch, a movie, and a few stores.  She loved the idea!

We started off our "Brityn Day" with a little shopping.  She found an umbrella at Charming Charlie, a book from Barnes and Noble, and some earrings from Claires: hamburgers, french fries, and ice cream cones.  They were buy two get one free.  Luckily we were able to purchase a full meal, including dessert for her ear lobes.

Then we went to the movie "Ramona and Beezus" (so cute!), and finished off with a little Steak and Shake.
I think this will become the tradition for all the kids.  When I was growing up, we looked forward to one on one time with our parents, and this was our bday tradition when we were young.  We would usually dine at Golden Corral (even getting dessert!!), and then go to the store to pick out a gift.  Our transportation for the evening was my dad's '67 Corvette.  Sadly that came to an end, when it was sold to purchase an addition for our house.  As we got older, bday's were celebrated on Sunday, immediately following Sunday dinner.  It was usually the only time all of us were in the same place at the same time.

We had a great day with our Sweet Pea!

that is so neat - I LOVE this idea too. Now that we are having baby #3, it will be imperative for sure. What a fun fun day for Brityn!
