Corbin had his first Scout Pinewood Derby last weekend.
These are the contestants. Ours is the red one, "Wade Made". It's actually not the first and only car we were working on for this event. Let's just say we had issues with the wheels on our original car that super glue tried to fix until that got down inside the wheels and froze up the wheels. The "Wade Made" was our back up. It's one we made for the ward PineWood Derby last year. Sadly that event got snowed out and this car never raced. It's a memorable car however. I had left the boys alone that day to do some shopping and came home to find a workshop set up on my kitchen counter, a fog of spray paint looming in the air, and lead coming to a boil in one of my pans. Yeah, that was a fun day.

And then disappointed. Darn it! Look at that face. He did win one heat, and was more than thrilled when the "Wade Made" won "most original name". He leaned over and whispered to Grandpa Wade, "Well, that was lucky." Yes, luck was on our side and we went away with a crunch bar and a blue ribbon as accolades.

You guys have to get this process down so you can pass on your tips to us before Tyson's first race! Sounds so fun...I can just see the excitement on Corbin's face! Sorry about the workshop in the kitchen...guess I know what to expect now! Maybe me and the girls will "disappear" that day..at least until race time!
I can't wait for those times. Although we will probably have to have more than one back up. Cory doesn't have alot of patience when it comes to those things. I love the name too!
You need to rent the movie "Down and Derby." You will totally laugh. You have to have a son in Cub Scouts to really appreciate it.

I love Corbins face...He looks disappointed yet having fun:) Hopefully next time you will get to be there when they make the car so you can stand watch and make sure nothing catches on fire or your kids to breath in something not so good for them! We love you guys and miss you so much!
We totally stink at the derby thing which really is not fun since I am competitive by nature! I love your little guys face... priceless!
