Friday afternoon we got two hummingbirds trapped in our garage. We tried everything to get them out. Because they look and sound like enormous bees, the kids would not step foot in the garage for the first few hours of the captivity. Poor little birds kept trying to suck nectar out of the bright red emergency pull for the garage door.
*side note: I did actually try to take pictures of the hummingbirds, but they are tricky little things to capture on film.
Friday night Braves game

Boston and Dad having fun.

Brityn and Grandma Wade

Grandpa Wade and Corb (and Kev's foxy leg)

Good. ness. I think someone has had too much sugar!
Things I learned on the way to the game:
*Corbin's seat belt smells like peanuts.
*Trees remind Brityn of pickles.
*2,000 beats to a bee, is like 1 beat to a human.
*A kindergarten kid was picked up from the school in a really big limo last week.
*Yesterday the kids saw a "lame bikini car" (translation: Lamborghini) while on their way home from school.
*Mrs. Cole picks all the chocolate out of the rewards/treat basket and stashes it in her desk for herself. A teacher after my own heart!
*Dinner in a lunchbox can turn Boston from a rabid badger into a smiling little sweetie pie! Sometimes it's just the simple things. He wanted to eat dinner (which he specified needed to be a pb&j, bunny crackers, and apples) out of a lunchbox on our way to the game. After telling him "no" all day (no to the $400 golf driver at Dick's Sporting Goods, no to the womens running shorts also at Dick's, no to the $18 bat and ball set, no to the white Acura he wanted. Seriously! What is with this child lately.) and having him throw an all out tantrum, one for the books I might add, I obliged him dinner in a lunchbox.
We saw this "dancing usher". This guy LOVES his job! It made me smile. He can really move!
Tyrone Founders Day

Saturday morning, the four of us ran in the Founders Day race. Brityn and I ran the mile, and Kevin and Corbin ran the 5K. I was so proud of all of us! Brityn took off like a bullet and I actually had a hard time keeping up with her. My winded calls for her to pace herself did little to slow her down. Corbin did awesome too! He would have done even better if he had worn his running shoes (Ahhh, Boys!!).
Boston got to ride on a float this year with his T-ball team, the Pirates! He had a good time! The other 2 kids of course got sacks full of candy!
Later that afternoon, Kevin, Grandma, Corbin, & Shawn went golfing. It was a really fun filled weekend. So fun in fact, I think I need another weekend to recover from my weekend.

Sounds so FUN! I am impressed Corbin ran over 3 miles! That is great! I don't know if Tyson could run that far! Glad you had a good weekend!
That is so funny about the "things you learned on the way to the game". Your kids are so funny. I am proud of you all for running in the marathon! Great job!
Oh yeah and I forgot to tell you, One time there were two hummingbirds that got trapped inside mom and dads house. They were fighting just outside the open sliding door to the deck, and they brought the fight inside. Dad started to say "Hey Hey Hey", and then they realized that they were inside and tried to fly out the window above the kitchen sink(which was closed), and dad and I saw them go "thud thump, thud thump" it knocked them out for a little bit and their fishing line tongues were hanging out. We scooped them up, and dripped some sugar water on their tongues, and then they snapped out of it, and then we took the screen out of the window and they flew out. Poor little hummingbirds. (sorry that was LONG)
I know what you mean by needing another weekend to recover! Those hummingbirds can be little stinkers. My in-laws have 6 hummingbird feeders hanging from their awning and there is one hummingbird gaurding all six all day and the minute another hummingbird even thinks about taking a sip the fight is on. I have even seen it go after my brother-in-law.
Great post! I love the things you learned on the way to the game. I laughed hard at the one about the teacher stashing all the chocolate. Your kids probably picked up on that because it's something they're familiar with:) Great job to you all for running. What a fun thing to do together as a family.
What a great post. That is actually one of my goals is to run in a fun run or something that is not too far! Sounds like you guys had a great ride to the game. I love the teacher stashing all the chocolate treats. I would do that too! Actually I do that now, I went through the bag of candy the kids got from the parade in Castle Dale and "Confiscated" all the tootsie rolls and chocolate taffy's. I also took anything that had chocolate on it just in case I got desperate! I too got caught. Kodi told Cory later that "Mom already took all the tootsie rolls!" Whoops!
What a crazy/fun weekend!
You're inspiring me to start blogging soon:)
Wow Tiff! I am pretty impressed by our fun filled weekend:) I am very proud of all of you for running that far! I have always wanted to do that but not quite sure what I was thinking when I decided that! Hope everything is going great and that you get the rest needed for your next fun filled weekend!:)
What a great weekend. I love living in a small town with so much fun. I think Boston would look really great driving a white Acura but I'm glad to see he settled for the dinner in a lunchbox.
Has anyone said that Brityn looks just like Autumn? I think it everytime I open your blog. It is like a mini-me!
Hi Tiffany! I somehow found my way to your blog and it was so much fun to read about your sweet family. Seeing your picture brought back lots of fun memories--has it really been almost fifteen years since high school-- yikes!
Have a wonderful day!!

I love Tyrone's Founders Day! Ahh, your post just made me miss good ol' Tyrone! Wow, good job on your mile run...you will be running marathons in no time :)
You are so stinkin cute! I love that you ran in a race with the fam. And I am envious of the ball game. I so love the ball park!!!
Fun weekend! I love that you all ran together too! WOW on the 5K. That's a pretty long race for a kid. I've only been able to get ONE of my boys to run a race with me ONCE. And it didn't go so well. He kept tripping through the whole race and I was wondering what in the heck was wrong with him. Well, it turns out he didn't have his shoes tied or even tightened at all. So, it didn't make for a real pleasurable time and no one has wanted to come with me again. But then my little one comes along and LOVES to jog so now he's inspiring the other two because they can't let LITTLE bro beat them! Oh my gosh, I ramble so much when I comment on your blog. I'm so sorry. I really don't mean to talk so much about myself.
I've found that lunchboxes are amazing things too! I could put an artichoke in there and my kids would probably eat it just because it was in the box! That is so cute that Boston asked for all of those things! Thanks heavens for the lunchbox!
Tiff, you are the cutest mom ever! Miss ya!
I love the lame bikini comment! I laughed until it hurt! You are hilarious !
