You've got mail!

Tonight for family night we made "mail boxes" for the kids bedroom doors.  Every day Brityn gets the mail on her way in from the bus, and every day she is disappointed that she doesn't have any mail addressed to her.  So, I thought we would make our own mailboxes to leave mail for each other in.

My daughter does not share my less is more philosophy.

Boston loved the letter stickers......but wanted to put them all over the table instead of on his folder.

Corbin wanted NO helpful suggestions from mom on how to "spice it up".  Speaking of,  you should see the graffiti that covers the inside of his baseball hat.  He told me.., "Dad wrote my name in my hat, and then I decided to add some things to spice it up."  I have a hard time letting the kids do stuff like this.  I know it's horrible, but I want to decorate it all cute while they stand on the sidelines and watch from a considerable distance.

Here is how they turned out......

Boston ended up running an errand with Kevin and didn't get to finish his.

Wow!  What a work of art.  I love that it says "Whatisup", all one word.  Also included are the exclamations, "ya!",  "thank you", "yo, yo", and "you have mail".  Lots of random things.  Very "I Spy"-ish.

No need to mince words here.  Just a straight forward, "Yo, you got mail".

I think they had fun.  It was a nice end to a rough afternoon*.

* Brityn took all her baby books/photos/journals outside for all the neighbor kids to look through. Lovely.  I think you can imagine some of the "hospital photos".  They may or may not have been traumatized.  In any case they scattered like birds when I opened the front door.  Since the photo pages were in a 3 ring binder they of course were strewn about on the lawn.  Corbin was forever (we are talking 1 1/2 hrs) getting his homework done.  If he could just learn to take his time and do it right the first time!!  He had to come back  3 times to make corrections, so he was really happy with me.  Comcast was supposed to get here to fix our cable, so I was trapped here all afternoon.  And, they never showed up.  This isn't the first time I've been stood up by Comcast.  Boston slammed his fingers in the front door, bloodied his lip, and hit his head on the car door at various points this afternoon as well.

A little Papa John's pizza for dinner, a little Family Home Evening, and all's well that ends well.

I have to say that I love "mini- Tiff's" folder, Corbin's "Yo, you've got mail", and Bostons adorable little face. Sorry your day was a little rough. Mondays tend to go like that for us at times too. Glad it ended well!

I love the idea. I too was disappointed when I was little and got no mail. Maybe I should send a little note or something to all the nieces and nephews, something to excite their day!

They would love than Moke. This weekend (since it is Conference Weekend), we are going to mail all the cousins a note and mailing labels with our address on it, so they can write back. They would be so thrilled to get mail!

Fun Fun:) Very good idea! I'm sorry you had a rough day, days like that seem to come and go more often than we would like but I am glad everything turned out great! I may have to steal your idea in the future:)

There's nothing better than Papa John's pizza for dinner on a rough day. The folders turned out cute and I love the sayings on Brityn and Corbins. I also have a hard time letting the girls do their own thing when it comes to decorating.

Looks like fun! What creative little guys! Why are Mondays always rough? I feel the same way. Thank heavens for FHE which puts it all back into perspective! I'll get my kids to write some letters!

Thanks, Holly! Be looking for our letter & mailing labels. Corbin already has a package ready to send to Tyson. It has a letter and some kind of coin in it. Funny boys!

What a great idea! I was laughing so hard at Brityn's and Corbin's! They are so creative just like their mom. My kids always draw stuff for the cousins, grandparents, uncles, Aunts, brand new baby cousins, preschool teachers, dance teachers, just to name a few and I try my hardest to get it out but it just doesn't make it. I will try to do better. Oh and P.S. way to hang in there on such a rough Monday!
