This year is the first year that the kids earned money to buy presents for each other. I decided to take them shopping one at a time, to pick out gifts for each other. Corbin was first. Instead of visiting the regular Walmart and Target, we opted for the second hand shops near our house. The big stores can be so overwhelming with isles of toys and stuff everywhere you look. Besides that, $5 doesn't go very far at the larger chain stores. Second hand shops were a good alternative, I thought. I let him wander and didn't suggest or help. I was pleasantly surprised when he found the perfect gifts for both his brother and sister that I know they will love. He took his time, and really thought about each one. Each gift was under $5. The best part was his excitment about the purchases. He can't wait for them to be opened.

I have always remembered what a sweetheart Corbin was, so this post doesn't surprise me. You have such good kids!
That is a good idea tiff. good for you and Corbin, and Kevin for making the money in the first place. :)
What a good idea! I wished there was a good second hand shop around here! I love that idea! You always have the best ideas! Thanks for sharing them.
I'm curious now to know what he got them. He is a very thoughtful brother and smart for wanting to go to the second hand store.
What a great idea. I have a couple of kids you need to adopt so they can have wonderful memories.
